New year show and Hauta concert.
we had them at YOU HALL from 4th to 8th,
I am a member of YOU HALL- tomonokai.

YOU HALL is the hall which I had my show last November.

Each member were given only 15cm spaces.
The small weaving in a flame below is mine.

The concert is Hauta: kind of Japanese music
using shamisen (Japanese string instrument ) and singing small songs.
It was popular in 1840s.
This was the first time to listen Hauta for me,
it was very impressive　and fascinating.

After viewing his works, I went to Misaki cape near the museum.
On the way to the cape,　in a grove, I saw at Pine tree.
The bark of the tree inspired me to make this vest.

In Japan we call Cosmos "Autumn Cherry Blossoms",

I will show you something I made using special weaving called Chuyaori.

Chuyaori means night and day. This cloth is one sheet and is reversible.

The left side's design is stripes of green and pale green

A Bag for Summer

This is a summer bag I made maybe several years ago,
I don't remember exactly when.
It's one of my favorite pieces.
This was woven with　cotton yarn, linen, and pieces of various cloth.
I sewed it myself.　This braided cord is also my own handiwork.

These flowers are Yarrow.
I was given htem by an acquaintance.
Lots of flowers make me happy, so I give them to friends to share the happiness !

Cherries

These cherries were given to me by another friend in this year too.
They look delicious, don't they?
They taste wonderful.
I enjoyed only eating them but gazing at the beautiful shapes
and shades of red each cherry has.

But I have been working hard, not just eating delicious foods.
I started a cape two weeks ago.
I crocheted these motives from extra fine wool yarn that I spun myself.
At the moment, I have 25 pieces so I will make many more in order to complete my cape.

We are having many rainy days here in Japan.
The Japanese think hydrangeas are beautiful in the rain.

I finished weaving a muffler with white wool yarn and needle work.
This muffler is not finished product yet.
I still must wash and iron it so it can have a soft touch.

"Machibito kitarazu " means "The person you wait for will not come."in Japanese.

Yesterday evening, I took a walk, just for a change of pace.
I came across this Flower suddenly.
I was surprised.............
to see this small, fragile flower standing alone in the dark.
However it's presence was stunning and alluring all at once.
This flower stirred up emotions that made my heart once again skip a beat.

When I was little,
my grandmother cooked this leaf for "tempura":
which is a Japanese method of deep frying food.
Unfortunately,　I don't remember it's taste.

In fact I was surprised that they were sold in the shop.

When I was weaving, Ｉ caught sight of camellia through the window.
The young leaves looked so beautiful　and the green is so fascinating.
I feasted my eyes on them, not only that, I felt something like making

I dyed them about ten years ago, so they have been faded　in places.

Sharinbai (Yeddo-Hawthorn: photo) is in bloom.
This plant produces a natural dye which is black.
It's difficult to achieve the exact shade of black that I desire.
I must repeat the dyeing wool black process many times to obtain my desired shade.

The other day I visited an exhibition of Japanese-style paintings at The Mizuno Museum of Art.
The museum is located in Nagano prefecture.(Six years ago, the Winter Olympics　were held in Nagano city.) It takes about four hours by car from my home.
